ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

  • 0:00 | so I’ve just come off a chipping lesson
  • 0:01 | with my dad he’s been really struggling
  • 0:03 | around the greens it’s been really
  • 0:04 | getting him down he’s been thinning him
  • 0:06 | along the ground he’s in fact him he’s
  • 0:07 | been even shanking them and his scores
  • 0:09 | have been going up and up and up now
  • 0:12 | probably just like you he doesn’t have
  • 0:13 | loads of time at practice he finally
  • 0:15 | doesn’t really want to practice I
  • 0:16 | generally go straight on the golf course
  • 0:17 | so I needed to give him something that
  • 0:19 | he can do in the garden first okay to
  • 0:22 | improve his strike and then one simple
  • 0:23 | thing I actually gave him to take to the
  • 0:25 | golf course the results have been
  • 0:27 | amazing and he’s so nice to put a
  • 0:29 | beautiful smile on his face I’m going to
  • 0:31 | bring you in on that live lesson very
  • 0:32 | very shortly because I think it could
  • 0:33 | help you particularly if you’ve been
  • 0:34 | struggling around the green now before I
  • 0:37 | do get in the lesson if you’re new to
  • 0:38 | the channels when your first videos of
  • 0:39 | mine please consider subscribing I
  • 0:41 | release videos just like this one every
  • 0:43 | single week to try and help you improve
  • 0:45 | your game plus you never have to
  • 0:46 | remember a thing I’ll put everything I
  • 0:47 | talk about in this video into a free
  • 0:49 | download practice guide in the
  • 0:51 | description box below so my dad began to
  • 0:53 | strike shots just like that on a
  • 0:55 | consistent basis now I didn’t plan on
  • 0:58 | filming this session so I didn’t get
  • 0:59 | loads of the footage but we started off
  • 1:01 | in the garden first to improve the
  • 1:03 | quality of strike and just like probably
  • 1:05 | 90 of golfers he was basically making
  • 1:08 | this mistake he wasn’t controlling two
  • 1:12 | things the low point of his ark and the
  • 1:15 | depth of his act what do I mean by that
  • 1:17 | well look at this your golf club just
  • 1:19 | like my dad’s whether it’s chipping or
  • 1:21 | your full swing is always creating a
  • 1:23 | circle like this okay now what my dad
  • 1:26 | was doing he was he was creating the
  • 1:28 | circle but this low point of the circle
  • 1:30 | was too far behind the golf ball now
  • 1:32 | this did a couple of things he would hit
  • 1:34 | the ground where behind that would be
  • 1:35 | his fat shot
  • 1:36 | he would then sometimes hit the ground
  • 1:39 | and the ball would come the club would
  • 1:40 | come up like this and thin the ball
  • 1:41 | along the ground okay he did one other
  • 1:44 | thing and I’m going to show you when he
  • 1:45 | shanked it in a second now I want your
  • 1:48 | low point to be just ahead of the golf
  • 1:52 | ball and that one of the easiest things
  • 1:53 | I did with my dad to achieve this was
  • 1:55 | really improve his setup first I then
  • 1:59 | wanted to make him really really
  • 2:00 | consistent with his ball Striker by
  • 2:02 | changing one in-swing thing which he
  • 2:04 | took him we took to the golf course okay
  • 2:05 | so let me show you what we did so my dad
  • 2:08 | doesn’t practice as much as he used to
  • 2:10 | do and and I needed to give him
  • 2:11 | something that was really really simple
  • 2:13 | that he could take straight to a golf
  • 2:15 | course I didn’t want to give him a lot
  • 2:16 | of checkpoints to to work on so we
  • 2:18 | started off by helping him improve the
  • 2:20 | quality of his strike first and then we
  • 2:22 | were we worked on the distance control
  • 2:24 | and kind of like the consistency for the
  • 2:26 | golf course in in part two so the first
  • 2:29 | thing to get is uh the consistency of
  • 2:31 | strike was basically set up his setup
  • 2:33 | was really really bad he’s it less
  • 2:36 | shoulders were too high I see this a lot
  • 2:37 | you’ve been trying to get his weight
  • 2:39 | forward but in doing so he pushed his
  • 2:41 | weight forward and all this did was
  • 2:42 | create even more angle with his
  • 2:43 | shoulders what this does is it basically
  • 2:46 | sends the low Point behind the golf ball
  • 2:48 | your right shoulder’s too low you’re
  • 2:49 | almost in scoop territory fat territory
  • 2:52 | here behind the golf ball hitting up
  • 2:54 | thin territory and the dreaded shank
  • 2:56 | where my dad was which was this he was
  • 2:58 | so far behind the ball that he had to
  • 3:00 | reach for the ball that pushed the neck
  • 3:02 | to the ball and he did some shocking
  • 3:04 | Shanks so I knew he didn’t have I
  • 3:07 | couldn’t give him loads of things to
  • 3:08 | work on so how do I in a sense get him
  • 3:11 | set up perfectly every time without a
  • 3:12 | lot of checkpoints well I needed him
  • 3:14 | look to get his hips and his shoulders
  • 3:17 | right stacked on top of one another I
  • 3:19 | needed his shoulders to be nice and
  • 3:21 | level how do we do it with this simple
  • 3:23 | exercise all I did got him to set up to
  • 3:25 | the golf ball okay and I want you to do
  • 3:27 | the same it’s a real simple exercise and
  • 3:29 | I got him to move his Mass his torso
  • 3:31 | over this side of the golf ball here and
  • 3:34 | then move the club behind and that was
  • 3:36 | it okay
  • 3:39 | that’s it now the math is going ahead
  • 3:41 | right now we’re talking now you play the
  • 3:44 | shot
  • 3:47 | you follow that immediately put his uh
  • 3:50 | his body in a place where the low point
  • 3:52 | now will be slightly just after the golf
  • 3:54 | ball now yes if he really exaggerated it
  • 3:57 | he’ll be come down too Steep and the
  • 3:58 | ball would come off very very low if you
  • 4:01 | did that he could just reduce it
  • 4:02 | slightly okay but because he had been so
  • 4:04 | much over here this really really works
  • 4:07 | as a great exercise to steep in his
  • 4:08 | angle of attack and improve the quality
  • 4:10 | of his strike the other thing that we
  • 4:12 | did and this was all done in the garden
  • 4:13 | I’m going to actually bring you in on
  • 4:15 | what we did on the golf course in a
  • 4:16 | second because there’s one final piece
  • 4:17 | of the jigsaw but we just did this in
  • 4:19 | the garden to an instantly improve his
  • 4:20 | strike I actually used a garden cam I
  • 4:23 | put it about a club
  • 4:26 | and a bit a little bit more than that a
  • 4:27 | little bit of a club and a bit distance
  • 4:29 | behind the golf ball and then all we did
  • 4:32 | from here
  • 4:33 | is get him to kind of what I like about
  • 4:35 | this is before if he’s back here would
  • 4:38 | hit the garden cane but by putting it
  • 4:40 | back there and getting his mask now more
  • 4:42 | over the top of the golf ball now he
  • 4:44 | could create a slightly better angle of
  • 4:45 | attack into that golf ball that low
  • 4:48 | point of the hour look is much much more
  • 4:49 | where the golf ball could be it’s felt a
  • 4:52 | bit strange for him but immediately the
  • 4:55 | strike was so much better
  • 5:01 | however however he was still a little
  • 5:05 | bit what I call hamsi now when you get
  • 5:07 | very risky and handsy sometimes what
  • 5:09 | happens is you are in a sense destroying
  • 5:12 | potentially the depth that the ACT goes
  • 5:15 | imagine here look okay we’re creating a
  • 5:17 | circle now if I keep this angle in my
  • 5:19 | right arm here like this I’m able to
  • 5:21 | control the depth of this Arc I’m able
  • 5:24 | to kind of control how much this club
  • 5:27 | just bruises the ground but if you get
  • 5:29 | very risky suddenly now that club is
  • 5:32 | going into the ground it’s going too
  • 5:34 | deep and that creates horrible fat shots
  • 5:36 | so I gave him this simple simple
  • 5:38 | exercise I’ll bring you on the lesson
  • 5:39 | right now where we did it actually at
  • 5:41 | the golf course to really improve the
  • 5:44 | consistency so it’s right side helped
  • 5:47 | him come through the shop beautifully
  • 5:48 | well and he didn’t get too risky this
  • 5:51 | gave him immense amount of consistency
  • 5:53 | let’s go and check it out now this is my
  • 5:55 | uh this is my
  • 5:57 | Achilles heel is at the moment right
  • 6:00 | I get to hear in one shot
  • 6:02 | and contact the or four more shots to
  • 6:05 | get in the hole okay I’ll shank it and
  • 6:08 | then shank it again okay
  • 6:09 | so hopefully now with this new
  • 6:13 | stands
  • 6:15 | uh it’s certainly going to help
  • 6:16 | hopefully what club you got I’ve got my
  • 6:19 | 60 degree
  • 6:20 | okay so I would say here right so a 60
  • 6:24 | degrees a club that is is
  • 6:27 | quite risky to play a lot of the time
  • 6:29 | right you don’t you know use it for
  • 6:31 | really emergencies only right right so
  • 6:33 | grab yourself a 56 for now right okay
  • 6:36 | um particularly struggling with your
  • 6:37 | chipping you don’t want to be going to
  • 6:39 | bags and bags of Loft right so 56 is
  • 6:41 | more than enough for this type of shot
  • 6:43 | okay done it yep um now
  • 6:46 | you’ve chosen your club right did you
  • 6:49 | have you chosen the shot you’re going to
  • 6:51 | play that’s well my intention is to go
  • 6:53 | for the flag okay so if you take 50 so
  • 6:55 | yeah okay I’m gonna go for height okay
  • 6:58 | come on let’s show me the shot okay yeah
  • 7:02 | and just do everything we worked on in
  • 7:03 | the garden yeah okay do that same thing
  • 7:06 | here yeah yep okay damn it
  • 7:21 | just where I didn’t want to go
  • 7:24 | so a bit like that yeah yeah
  • 7:29 | so so if you look at this here from this
  • 7:31 | angle even from even from behind here
  • 7:33 | right
  • 7:35 | look at look at how your body has
  • 7:38 | completely stopped
  • 7:40 | and I didn’t follow through that if you
  • 7:42 | look at your body here yes all you’ve
  • 7:44 | done is your body is completely Frozen
  • 7:46 | yep I’m just gone
  • 7:48 | well yeah there’s even no moving there
  • 7:50 | so what you do your body’s just done
  • 7:51 | this
  • 7:52 | bang stop and then if you if everything
  • 7:55 | stops you’ve only got one thing left
  • 7:57 | that’s it for this yeah if you’ve
  • 8:00 | stopped you’ve only got this
  • 8:01 | yeah right so what we need to do is we
  • 8:04 | need to get this right side this whole
  • 8:07 | right side of yours look continuing to
  • 8:09 | go through the shot so the right wrist
  • 8:12 | doesn’t break down because as soon as
  • 8:14 | the bricks come on anywhere here like if
  • 8:16 | I put a bricks on here what’s gonna
  • 8:18 | happen yeah flick that gets fried yeah
  • 8:20 | right and that’s when the fats and
  • 8:22 | things and all kinds of stuff come on
  • 8:23 | right yeah so what we want to do is get
  • 8:24 | you you set up really good that much
  • 8:26 | better than before but now I want to
  • 8:27 | continue that right side going through
  • 8:30 | the shot okay and I’m going to give you
  • 8:32 | a little drill for this one actually
  • 8:33 | this is kind of simple so I’m going to
  • 8:35 | grab like um let’s grab a seven iron
  • 8:37 | watch this pause there pause just put
  • 8:39 | your foot underneath this for a second
  • 8:41 | oh good don’t it yeah you put yeah yes
  • 8:43 | so that’s it underneath it now when you
  • 8:46 | what I won’t do now is so when you’ve
  • 8:47 | got a lot of weight on this right side
  • 8:49 | that stairs up in the air right what I
  • 8:51 | want to do now let’s go through the shot
  • 8:52 | so that that’s it so it comes down
  • 8:54 | follow it’s a great way of getting that
  • 8:56 | right side
  • 8:58 | through that shot
  • 8:59 | keep going to have another practice
  • 9:05 | and again
  • 9:11 | right good so what I’m going to do now
  • 9:13 | is if you’ve got the golf ball you get
  • 9:14 | you get that feeling yes okay yeah so if
  • 9:17 | we get off that again okay put that
  • 9:19 | underneath for a second
  • 9:21 | okay
  • 9:23 | you can move the ball around if you like
  • 9:24 | move it whilst there it is that better
  • 9:26 | yeah feel comfortable there a bit
  • 9:28 | further back further back yeah okay cool
  • 9:31 | so when you’re ready hang on a second
  • 9:34 | okay
  • 9:41 | now that’s better that’s a bit different
  • 9:43 | isn’t it yeah that was wonderful yeah
  • 9:45 | yeah just that little moment yeah well
  • 9:48 | because oh yeah
  • 9:50 | guys the club through yeah what you want
  • 9:52 | to do is you in order to be consistent
  • 9:54 | you need the body to help you with it
  • 9:57 | and keep moving otherwise you become
  • 9:58 | risky and handsy yeah so just a little
  • 10:00 | simple exercise like this it just gives
  • 10:01 | you feedback yeah as to are you actually
  • 10:03 | getting through that shot yeah all right
  • 10:05 | yeah
  • 10:14 | you imagine that Dad how many shots
  • 10:17 | you’ll serve
  • 10:18 | when that’s right you kind of like you
  • 10:21 | could get up and down like that yeah you
  • 10:23 | know a good ship there so I get it a
  • 10:25 | good ship there yeah and you’ve just
  • 10:27 | made
  • 10:28 | that felt so nice having that weight
  • 10:31 | and just keep moving just keep moving
  • 10:32 | just keep moving all the time and even
  • 10:35 | on the smallest of chips obviously on
  • 10:37 | the full swing you move even more you
  • 10:38 | keep moving but and even the smallest
  • 10:40 | chips look we’re still moving gently
  • 10:42 | through yes but when people start
  • 10:44 | getting smaller and smaller because they
  • 10:46 | get nervous they start to
  • 10:47 | that was me yeah that’s me
  • 10:50 | there you go
  • 10:52 | so as you can see chipping doesn’t have
  • 10:55 | to be too complicated control the depth
  • 10:57 | of the eye control where that low point
  • 10:59 | is and have a technique that kind of
  • 11:01 | does this on a consistent basis and do a
  • 11:03 | little bit of practice and I promise you
  • 11:04 | you too will start to improve the
  • 11:06 | consistency of your chipping I hope you
  • 11:08 | enjoyed this video if you did give it a
  • 11:09 | thumbs up maybe share it with one of
  • 11:11 | your friends who’s maybe strugging with
  • 11:12 | that shot again of course look if you
  • 11:13 | want to see a video where we actually
  • 11:15 | talk about pitching that’s like my 30 to
  • 11:17 | 80 yard shot there is some big
  • 11:19 | differences there check this video out
  • 11:20 | right here and of course look if you’re
  • 11:22 | new to the channel press that subscribe
  • 11:23 | button it’s completely free to do sir
  • 11:25 | but until next week have a wonderful
  • 11:26 | golfing week

I love the real-time results with your old man. I’ll be trying this technique this weekend. Very simple to understand.

Yay for Pops! My father is 81 yrs. old, has been fighting Leukemia for over 12 years, and every time he is able to play a hole well, he celebrates like he won the Masters. He knows he only has so many rounds left in his life…THAT'S what golf is about…family and memories.

Great tips for us older players to tune their chip setups. What trolley does your dad use? Cheers.

Love the chipping lessons. One of the biggest problems I have is with a wedge from tight lies. I'd rather use my wedges from the short rough rather than the fairway. I'll give this a shot and see if that helps me figure it out. Also, thanks for the tip on high loft for emergencies as opposed to always using it from close in.

Thank you. I enjoy the respect that you and your Dad have for one another, and being in his age group I relate and learn so much from your instruction with him. At 77 I still like to walk when the course is build for it, I work out and stay in good physical shape, but have lost a lot of distance off the usual white tees and now moving to front tees to make 4s and 5s in regulation with my approach being with an iron – although I'm more relaxed and scoring and enjoying more like I used to, I'm still not sure if it's age and/or something I've lost from my driver …. any comment or suggestions?

    Hi Danny,
    This is a wonderful lesson.
Short game is a make or break play for us – club golfers.
Getting a good shot with these tips are going to reduce at least a shot per hole.
    Thanks a ton.
Keep it going, Danny, you are making a great difference to our games.

Brilliant lesson Danny. I cant believe the difference in my chipping now. They are even checking on the green. Just one question im confused with, at what distance do you not use the bounce and just use the wedge like a normal shot?

This really works. I tried it out on the golf course last time I played and hit my chips much better. Still need help on distance control/speed, but the impact was much improved.

Danny: I’m a 78 year old guy, three kids but sadly no golf Pro’s. So I’m adopting you. What a joy to see you working with your Dad. All the Best to you both. Thanks for the great tip.

Danny: you are my favorite golf teacher. One thing I would like to see is that you mentioned what club are you using in your videos. Is it #9 or a Pitching W. Or a 54 degrees ?
Please identify your clubs. Thank you.

Thanks Danny. I found that very useful. I have been practicing what you demonstrated and I find a great improvement – though every so often (just when I think I have it sorted) – I get a nasty shank. I'm not sure what causes it – maybe its just karma for getting overconfident!

Honestly Danny, you need to feature your father more regularly. It is wonderful watching him improve from your lessons and it’s heartwarming as well as inspiring. His lack of practice time is an issue facing all of us. I will be putting these tips to work because I will be recalling your knowledge and thinking of your father at the same time. You both are a dynamic team and memory aid this way. You don’t need me to tell you that you are a lucky son.

I don't think i would have been practicing my chipping facing those lovely windows as my wife would have gone bonkers after a broken window, despite having Danny as my coach. ???‍♀Great info yet again Danny.

Hi Danny – great video. I have been working on the “release” but the tips and drills really finish it off.

It helps me move the front foot inline with ball and have more weight on that front foot!

really really helpful Danny, Thanks. I wonder how this works when the ball is in the green-side rough (as my ball often is!)
