I’m CHANGING my Golf Clubs! [Video]

0:19 | through every single Golf Club in my bag

0:21 | tell you the pros and the negatives of

0:23 | some of these clubs and whether they are

0:26 | going to stay in the bag or is it time

0:29 | for a change

0:31 | so you might be thinking well why change

0:33 | Rick well for a couple of reasons one

0:36 | got a big year 2023 it’s the start of a

0:39 | brand new golf season I’ve got some

0:41 | really exciting break 75s lined up for

0:43 | this year and I want to have the best

0:45 | tools possible I’ve also got some very

0:48 | important matches against some of the

0:50 | biggest tour stars in the world this

0:54 | year and again I want to have clubs that

0:55 | I feel confident with or be I’m starting

0:57 | 10 on the power in those videos I need

0:59 | to have clubs I feel confident with

1:02 | also another teased it a couple of times

1:04 | the review Channel which I’m setting up

1:07 | very soon which will allow me to test

1:08 | more golf clubs than ever before is

1:12 | being released in the month of May

1:22 | with the Potter the flat stick the club

1:24 | you use the most in the bag now as you

1:26 | know I’ve been a big fan of this brand

1:28 | for a number of years even roll I really

1:30 | like the feel of the Putter and I’ve

1:32 | used this particular style for a number

1:34 | of years now this particular version has

1:37 | no alignment on it at all I had a

1:39 | putting that’s not Phil Kenyan and we

1:41 | identified actually no alignment might

1:43 | best suit my eye

1:45 | and I don’t disagree however I feel like

1:49 | I need some level of a DOT even here

1:51 | just on the top so I know where the

1:52 | center of the putter is

1:58 | after all my clubs and at the end of

2:01 | this video tell you whether I’m going to

2:02 | keep them in the bag or whether I’m

2:04 | bidding them bag or bin I’ll come back

2:06 | to the Potter in a bit but yeah lots of

2:08 | positives in there okay wedges up next

2:11 | now I’ll say this with a smirk on my

2:14 | face because many of you watch the

2:16 | channel might know that maybe the wedge

2:18 | game is the weakest part of my golf game

2:22 | um I feel like that predominantly is due

2:24 | to technique and also in between the

2:27 | ears and the Brain

2:29 | look how much you’re thinking about it

2:31 | right

2:37 | about in the podcast about routine

2:41 | he’s got no routine has it slowly but

2:44 | surely I’m starting to get com more

2:45 | confident in that region now the four

2:48 | wedges I currently Carry I’ve got 46

2:50 | degree which is effectively a pitching

2:52 | wedge a 50 degree which is a gut wedge

2:54 | and they’re both sn8s I’ve got 56 degree

2:58 | Sun reg and a 60 degree lob wedge which

3:00 | are sm-9s

3:02 | I’m going to talk about this club first

3:04 | 46 degrees which is pretty cool it’s got

3:07 | the stamping in my name there on the

3:09 | back now this is a pitching wedge and I

3:12 | like the look of this wedge I love the

3:15 | thinness of it I love the fact on these

3:17 | really short delicate shorts this isn’t

3:19 | too powerful

3:20 | however I definitely see a downside

3:23 | where I’m playing a par 3 and let’s say

3:25 | it’s around about that 130 yard Mark I

3:28 | think I’d want a more traditional

3:30 | pitching wedge I feel like if I’m going

3:32 | to change the pitching wedge I actually

3:33 | want it to match the set of ions I’m

3:36 | using overall I don’t mind that club I

3:39 | love the feel of it but just not very

3:40 | forgiving on those longer shots

3:43 | um gut wedge I really like is one of my

3:45 | favorite clubs in the bag 56 degrees I’m

3:47 | not again doesn’t offend me I really

3:49 | like it and then the 60 degrees a club

3:51 | I’ve used quite a lot more this year a

3:53 | couple of dents here at the bottom even

3:55 | just show the amount of wear I’ve been

3:57 | getting out this wedge today and even

3:58 | the face I’ve not had a 60 degree wedge

4:00 | in the bag for this long the grooves and

4:03 | the face is really starting to wear down

4:05 | because believe it or not

4:07 | I do actually practice my wedges quite a

4:10 | bit maybe not enough yet but quite a bit

4:11 | a couple of dents there on the top were

4:13 | actually when I played a match at JCB

4:16 | against the good good lads when I hit a

4:17 | shot out of the ditch

4:21 | you got it so the wedges overall I’ve

4:25 | liked voku wedges in the past they’re

4:27 | not the softest feeling wedges in the

4:29 | world but I don’t think this set for me

4:32 | is the biggest issue however I think a

4:35 | different makeup in Loft would

4:38 | definitely help me but I don’t like the

4:41 | fact that six degrees between my 50 and

4:43 | my 56 and only four degrees between my

4:45 | 56 and my 60. so I’ve come back to that

4:47 | in a moment what I think the best Loft

4:49 | makeup for me would actually be so

4:52 | moving on to the irons next I have four

4:54 | to nine iron in the Titleist t100s now I

4:58 | have really enjoyed using these irons I

5:00 | have for me this style of iron this kind

5:03 | of cavity back iron really suits my game

5:07 | and I’ve had a few of these kind of

5:09 | cavity back irons

5:11 | over the number of years I’ve been

5:13 | playing golf and for me they have the

5:15 | Perfect Blend between forgiveness feel

5:17 | and kind of distance we’re not too

5:20 | powerful like hey really powerful irons

5:23 | they always give me the fear that I’m

5:24 | going to hit them too far that sounds

5:25 | ridiculous but I’ve kind of have that

5:27 | weird fear with them

5:28 | these ones are really nice and forgiving

5:30 | certainly off the bottom hits

5:32 | my probably biggest gripe with this set

5:36 | of irons it probably matches with the

5:38 | same

5:39 | um opinion with the wedges that I

5:40 | currently use because I just don’t feel

5:42 | like they feel the best like they don’t

5:45 | feel super soft off the head I’ve

5:47 | definitely used irons in the past that

5:50 | have given me the same a level of

5:51 | forgiveness that have felt better for

5:54 | example the Wilson set I had years ago

5:56 | they were some of the best feeling irons

5:57 | I’ve ever used the v6s so I’m kind of

6:00 | looking for maybe some irons that have

6:03 | slightly better feel but with the same

6:05 | forgiveness I’ve really got my eye on

6:07 | the brand new Cobra CB irons I’m looking

6:10 | forward to testing those a little bit

6:12 | more because they look quite similar to

6:13 | these I mean tree to know what the feel

6:15 | is like because overall I like the looks

6:18 | again if I’m going to get a new set of

6:21 | irons I would still go from four iron

6:23 | but also throw in the pitching wedge

6:25 | from the set of irons overall these have

6:28 | been pretty good but we’ll come on to it

6:30 | in a bit

6:31 | they might not be staying in the bag for

6:34 | too much longer So currently my longest

6:36 | iron in the bag Callaway Apex UT this is

6:40 | 18 degrees and effectively it’s a two

6:42 | iron now this particular iron has only

6:45 | just come back into the golf bag

6:47 | recently after needing a repair job

6:50 | because a couple of years ago

6:52 | I think it was about that long ago maybe

6:54 | yeah maybe 18 months ago this the neck

6:56 | actually ended up coming loose and then

6:58 | the shaft came out when I was actually

7:00 | hitting some warm-up shots before

7:01 | playing JCB one time so it’s been

7:04 | redundant for a while I found it again

7:06 | recently I’ve had it repaired at thorax

7:08 | Nick Hibbs repaired it for me did a

7:10 | great job

7:12 | um however I’ve lost a little bit of

7:14 | magic with this club I used to really

7:16 | love hitting this a lot it felt like my

7:18 | safety Club off the tee at the moment

7:20 | maybe I’ve not hit it enough just yet

7:22 | it’s literally been the bag for about

7:23 | two months so far but this whole section

7:26 | of my bag this longer iron this gap

7:28 | between my longest traditional eyes my

7:31 | four iron and my three wood has always

7:33 | been a part of the bagger swap quite a

7:36 | lot I’ll try different three irons I’ll

7:38 | try two irons I’ve sometimes tried

7:39 | hybrids more recently you’ve seen that

7:41 | and I played at Royal Liverpool in the

7:42 | break 75 you saw how that went

7:45 | not great so this part of my bag is

7:48 | somewhere that I definitely need more

7:49 | attention to I probably need to work out

7:52 | how much how many times I’m actually

7:53 | going to hit this longest iron I think

7:56 | maybe a slightly chunkier three iron if

7:59 | I’m going to change my iron set I might

8:01 | look for a 3 Iron that is dealing same

8:04 | kind of brand or the same family but a

8:07 | more chunkier model that might be the

8:09 | way forward with this longest iron my

8:12 | longest serving Golf Club in the back by

8:15 | a long way

8:16 | you’ve seen it many many years I’ve

8:18 | probably had this club in the bag for at

8:20 | least five years plus maybe six or seven

8:23 | years you guys would probably know

8:24 | better than me

8:26 | Cobra F7 old bluish as it’s become

8:30 | nicknamed

8:31 | um

8:33 | can this ever leave the bag

8:35 | can it ever ever ever come out the bag

8:38 | I’m not sure with me and three wood I’ve

8:41 | had mixed relationships with three Woods

8:43 | anyway and also this club

8:45 | um but

8:47 | I’ve never found a three wood I’ve

8:49 | tested over the years that for me sits

8:52 | as nicely behind the golf ball the

8:53 | garden I’ve never been the biggest fan

8:55 | of the blue which is mad to say into it

8:57 | but shape wise I love how it’s shallow

8:59 | it’s not too deep the head I’ve always

9:01 | mentioned these these kind of rails on

9:04 | the bottom of the Three Wood I’ve always

9:05 | loved those rails and even though

9:08 | probably technically they don’t really

9:10 | do a great job of interaction with the

9:13 | four I love the fact it gives me that

9:15 | reassurance that I can almost dig this

9:17 | club into the ground and those rails are

9:19 | going to help it pop back up and not

9:21 | really kind of take too much of a divot

9:24 | um

9:25 | I don’t know if I could ever take this

9:27 | club out the bag

9:29 | can I so before I get onto the driver

9:32 | I’m going to talk about the golf ball I

9:34 | use I’ve been using it a number of years

9:35 | Titleist Pro V1 the normal version now

9:39 | again I love this ball I love the feel

9:40 | of it the flight of it I love it the

9:42 | feel of the putter is fantastic as an

9:45 | all-around ball I mean does anything

9:46 | really get much better than the Pro V1

9:48 | there’s lots of golf balls that are

9:50 | getting very very good at the moment

9:52 | um I’ve definitely got my eye on a few

9:54 | things I’d like to try so the

9:56 | Bridgestone golf ball and some of the

9:58 | ones that what tiger use is that

10:00 | definitely when I’ve tested it and

10:02 | performed with it it’s been very very

10:03 | solid and also I might even try the

10:08 | slightly more spinny version of this

10:10 | which is the Titleist probe One X the

10:12 | one with the red number

10:14 | sometimes I feel like I could do with

10:15 | just a little bit more spin shots into

10:17 | greens getting the ball to stop a little

10:19 | bit more I’ve never been a a player that

10:22 | needs to reduce spin with driver

10:24 | actually spin it quite low so maybe that

10:26 | little bit more spin with the pro v1x

10:28 | might suit my game but overall it’s not

10:31 | an area need changing I’ve Loved using

10:33 | this golf ball actually I’ve used it for

10:35 | this probably one ever since it really

10:37 | came out back in you know the year 2000

10:39 | I’ve kind of had this as my stable golf

10:41 | ball to go to all the newer versions at

10:44 | least but yeah it might

10:47 | might be a time to change this as well

10:49 | and then this the big stick the driver

10:54 | the Ping G4 25 Max

10:59 | quite possibly the best club I’ve put in

11:02 | the bag over the last 10 years and

11:05 | that’s reviewing a lot of the golf

11:06 | equipment this for me is this kind of

11:09 | unicorn driver it’s outrageously

11:12 | forgiving it really is and doesn’t mean

11:15 | I still don’t hit bad shots of course as

11:17 | it’s not a miracle worker but shots off

11:20 | center when I’m not hitting the middle

11:22 | of the golf club that’s just the GC quad

11:24 | dot when I’m uh hitting on the launch

11:25 | monitor when you don’t hit the middle of

11:27 | this driver it’s still very very

11:29 | forgiving it feels like offline it

11:31 | doesn’t go massively too far right or

11:33 | massively too far left again that’s

11:35 | sometimes user error granted

11:38 | my one I’ve got two things with this

11:41 | driver so I’m not the biggest fan of

11:42 | forgiveness is the number one strength

11:45 | of this driver without even a question

11:46 | and I actually love the look of this

11:48 | driver

11:49 | there’s two things however I’m not the

11:50 | biggest fan of or I think could maybe be

11:53 | improved

11:54 | first off the sound

11:58 | it’s a it’s a

11:59 | it’s a crack it’s not the nicest sound

12:02 | in the world it’s quite quite high pitch

12:04 | it’s quite loud when you’re hitting

12:06 | people watching you feel quite conscious

12:08 | that it’s a bit garish

12:10 | the latest model the G4 30 is definitely

12:14 | a better sound a more muted crack so

12:17 | that’s one negative with this particular

12:19 | driver but again I can get over it a

12:21 | little bit

12:22 | um the other one is I don’t think for me

12:25 | this is the longest drive though I’m

12:27 | using in fact I know it’s not I’ve even

12:29 | tested some drivers earlier on this year

12:31 | such as the Callaway Paradigm and that’s

12:35 | considerably longer than this driver

12:37 | however

12:39 | um worry dubious concerned about

12:42 | switching because the one thing I do not

12:45 | want to sacrifice is that forgiveness

12:47 | level the need forgiveness is more

12:49 | important and confidence

12:50 | you might have heard recently I played a

12:52 | very very special golf course at Augusta

12:54 | National and I’ve done that first team I

12:56 | hit this driver

12:58 | I’ll set it up behind the golf balls

12:59 | nervous as hell I really was I was

13:01 | shaking I was like petrified but you

13:03 | know excited obviously

13:04 | I don’t think I would have wanted

13:06 | another driver in the world to look down

13:09 | on than this for that particular t-shirt

13:12 | and it delivered it delivered and it

13:14 | delivered all day long at that Golf

13:16 | Course where I needed it to that’s why

13:18 | I’m possibly maybe a bit scared about

13:20 | changing this particular driver

13:23 | anyway that’s the rundown of the golf

13:25 | clubs I’m going to show you my brand new

13:27 | golf bag and then we’re going to find

13:30 | out which clubs are going to potentially

13:31 | stay and which clubs have the chance of

13:33 | changing

14:29 | let’s let’s go with the easy decisions

14:31 | first for me the easy decision

14:35 | oh God is the one actually

14:38 | I think the easy decision I think

14:40 | hopefully a lot of you will appreciate

14:42 | this but I can’t see the three would go

14:44 | anywhere for me I I just don’t imagine a

14:48 | three wood that’s gonna I don’t need

14:49 | anything more from it I just need to

14:51 | trust this one that little bit more I

14:53 | don’t want to throw it that goes further

14:54 | I don’t want one that’s more forgiving

14:55 | that for me is perfect might need a new

14:58 | head cover though

15:00 | all the club that’s going to stay in the

15:03 | bag I’m gonna say

15:05 | certainly for the time being

15:08 | this is staying in the bag

15:10 | the driver the g425 at the moment right

15:15 | now as I am recording this video at the

15:18 | start of a brand new year of 2023 after

15:20 | pretty much testing all the brand new

15:23 | drivers that have been released this

15:25 | year I am yet to have my head turned for

15:29 | a new driver for me that g425 does

15:31 | everything I want it to do it’s not

15:33 | perfect there’s still room for

15:35 | improvement

15:36 | for me personally sound and maybe a

15:38 | driver that’s as forgiving if not a

15:40 | little bit longer but so far that is

15:43 | staying in the bag and it looks good in

15:45 | there right

15:47 | what’s definitely going

15:50 | this is definitely going

15:52 | the Callaway Apex UT is going to go on a

15:55 | wall because I’ve got a lot of history

15:57 | with this golf club it’s been a

15:58 | beautiful tool but right now I’m not

16:01 | getting on with it and that is being

16:02 | binned out of here gone

16:06 | um where are we gonna go next

16:08 | well I know for a fact

16:10 | the 46 degree wedge

16:14 | is not staying in the bag because even

16:16 | if I was to get brand new wedges I’m

16:18 | gonna have to get a wedge that suits the

16:20 | set this for me I’ve tested it I tried

16:22 | it something I’ve always wanted to do

16:24 | but right now that is out of there never

16:27 | to be seen again again not chucking

16:29 | these and I’m not going to give them

16:30 | away and at the moment I actually might

16:33 | keep some of these clubs in the actual

16:35 | golf bags I’m playing golf again soon so

16:37 | but these are clubs that are definitely

16:38 | ready to be replaced

16:41 | the Potter

16:43 | they’re a bag or bin now as I mentioned

16:46 | earlier there’s lots and lots of

16:48 | positives about this Potter there really

16:49 | is and I do love the feel of it putter I

16:52 | love the look of it I think really

16:55 | I’m going to

16:56 | baguette however I’m going to do

16:59 | something here on this top Edge either

17:01 | alignment dot or get get something here

17:05 | on this top Edge not so much an

17:06 | alignment here but just something that

17:08 | tells me where the middle of the putter

17:10 | is I really like it’s putter I’ve

17:12 | enjoyed even rolls over a long time

17:15 | um and I think that’s not particularly

17:16 | going anywhere so that is also in the

17:19 | bag so next up the remaining wedges

17:23 | right

17:26 | um the 50 to 56 and the 60.

17:29 | now as I mentioned earlier I just feel

17:32 | like the Loft makeup isn’t quite right

17:35 | I love having a 60 degree in the bag I

17:38 | do so for me a 60 degree whether it’s

17:42 | exactly this one I mean I’m happy with

17:43 | this club I really do actually quite

17:44 | like it I like this wide sole it’s got

17:47 | 14 degrees of Bounce because obviously I

17:49 | need as much help as I can that 60

17:52 | degree Cod

17:54 | absolutely stay in the back

17:57 | it might change if I change my other

17:58 | wedges just so they all match however I

18:01 | do think if I go for a more traditional

18:03 | wedge in a new set of irons I would then

18:06 | want to go 50 degree and maybe 55 degree

18:09 | now at the moment again these clubs

18:12 | aren’t bad I like the look of these

18:14 | clubs and the shape and everything else

18:15 | they’re not the best feeling in the

18:17 | world I would prefer maybe something a

18:18 | bit softer I couldn’t tell you exactly

18:20 | right now what those wedge options might

18:22 | be again I’ve not tested as many as I’d

18:25 | like to have done yet this year more

18:32 | um so at the moment these are on the

18:34 | fence

18:35 | I think they could easily be binned

18:38 | but currently because I don’t know any

18:40 | other options I think I am actually

18:42 | going to just keep these in the bags

18:44 | it’s not so much these golf clubs that

18:46 | are bad I just think maybe I need a

18:48 | different setup to these wedges okay and

18:51 | then the last few golf clubs in the bag

18:54 | the irons the t100s

18:58 | listen these have been fine they have

19:00 | been bought

19:03 | I think A change is needed I do for me I

19:06 | want something maybe with the same level

19:08 | of forgiveness and maybe even very

19:10 | similar looks

19:11 | but something

19:13 | it feels softer something that gives me

19:15 | that really satisfying hit when I strike

19:19 | it now that might be down to me not

19:20 | hitting the middle enough granted but

19:22 | I’ve definitely I’m considering in fact

19:25 | I am going to be looking at changing my

19:26 | irons this year again I’ve got my eyes

19:28 | on those Cobra CB irons and maybe other

19:31 | options as well I’m not saying that’s a

19:33 | guarantee and you never know I might

19:34 | test those and go back to these but the

19:37 | moment these are not staying in the bag

19:40 | last but definitely not least the golf

19:42 | ball

19:43 | um I think again change might be

19:46 | necessary in this department I’m going

19:48 | to put some Pro we want x’s in the golf

19:50 | bag in the very next round of golf that

19:52 | are playing do a little bit more testing

19:54 | with the X and maybe some other golf

19:55 | balls in the future so at the moment

19:57 | also saddens me to say maybe even the

20:01 | title is probably one might not be

20:03 | staying in the bag now just to clarify

20:06 | what made it through

20:08 | into this incredible bag driver ping

20:11 | g425 Max all Blu-ray Cobra f73 wood my

20:15 | even roll ER 2v maybe with a dots an

20:19 | alignment dot currently the three wedges

20:22 | my 60 degree 56 and 50. currently

20:24 | they’re definitely on the Brinker being

20:27 | replaced but currently not yet but not

20:30 | that many from the existence that made

20:33 | it into my brand new bag for 2023. now

20:37 | as you can imagine I’m playing golf

20:39 | again very soon more videos being

20:41 | released so the golf clubs have just

20:42 | been you’ll probably see back in the bag

20:45 | just for the immediate future just

20:48 | because obviously need golf clubs to use

20:49 | I need a bit more testing to start

20:51 | making some decisions on what clubs but

20:53 | these are the ones that stay in don’t

20:55 | hold me to it exactly but these are the

20:57 | ones I’m staying in the bag the other

20:59 | ones I am definitely looking to be

21:00 | replacing to start a new season to break
