Video Description

Amateur golfer described Danny Maude’s latest golf tip as possibly golf’s greatest secret.

In this golf lesson Danny Maude reveals that if you start with your right arm in the correct position it can really feel like cheating in your golf swing. In this golf lesson Danny shows by getting the right arm in the correct starting position with driver and irons the golf swing just feels easy.

When you get the right arm in the correct position it helps you get a perfect backswing. In fact once you have locked the right arm in place Danny shows you exactly how to move the right arm perfectly with his signature dumbbell move.

But the golf lesson wouldn’t be complete without knowing how to move it in the downswing. Danny Maude has you covered. There is no room for loads of complicated swing thoughts in the golf swing so you need something super simple and this is where knowing how to move the right arm in your golf swing is super important.

ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!

I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.

On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.

Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble

I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

  • 0:00 | have you ever had those dares where your
  • 0:02 | drivers working really really well but
  • 0:03 | then your irons suddenly stopped working
  • 0:05 | or suddenly your irons start working and
  • 0:08 | then the driver stops it’s so
  • 0:09 | frustrating isn’t it we’ve all been
  • 0:11 | there well today I’ve got something
  • 0:12 | super super excited it’s almost like I
  • 0:14 | you know you’ve watched a great movie
  • 0:15 | and you just want to share it with
  • 0:17 | everybody this is something I really
  • 0:18 | want to share because working with all
  • 0:20 | of my students and it’s something that
  • 0:22 | transfers into your driver and your
  • 0:23 | irons and will really help you improve
  • 0:26 | the consistency of your strike and the
  • 0:28 | distance and accuracy that you hit each
  • 0:30 | club now before I get into the video
  • 0:32 | look if you’re new to a challenge from
  • 0:33 | your first lessons of mine please
  • 0:34 | consider subscribing are these videos
  • 0:36 | just like this one every single week to
  • 0:37 | try and help you improve your game plus
  • 0:40 | you never have to remember a thing I’ll
  • 0:41 | always put a free downloader practice
  • 0:42 | guide in the description box below so
  • 0:44 | let’s start with your irons first then
  • 0:46 | what we’ll do is we’ll drift into your
  • 0:47 | drive it kind of works for every Club in
  • 0:49 | the bag so my students love a process
  • 0:52 | they love to be able to kind of start
  • 0:54 | from a simple basis and build something
  • 0:56 | that is repeatable over and over again
  • 0:58 | and this really does that so let me
  • 1:00 | start first of all looking at what the
  • 1:02 | Trillium does in your golf swing when
  • 1:05 | you’re swinging through what we’re doing
  • 1:06 | is we are creating a circle around the
  • 1:08 | body here at roughly a 45 degree angle
  • 1:11 | so as I swing the club back here my
  • 1:14 | trail arm is helping to form this 45
  • 1:16 | degree angle here it works back to the
  • 1:18 | golf ball here and then Works back up on
  • 1:21 | again on a roughly 45 degree angle
  • 1:24 | now knowing that I’m picturing that is
  • 1:27 | the first stage okay this is the first
  • 1:28 | stage once you’ve got the picture of
  • 1:30 | this beautiful 45 degree circle the next
  • 1:33 | stage is is always the start I like to
  • 1:35 | say with the end in mind so what I love
  • 1:38 | my students to do is get a sense of what
  • 1:40 | they’re supposed to be doing at the
  • 1:42 | moment or through the moment of impact
  • 1:44 | what is the strike supposed to feel like
  • 1:46 | and then we work back from there so for
  • 1:49 | that I’m going to get Leo in so leave
  • 1:50 | Jordan just jump in for a second it’s my
  • 1:51 | videographer is going to help me out
  • 1:53 | with this little plant so if you stand
  • 1:54 | there just to decide that’s it fantastic
  • 1:56 | now this is the sense I want you to kind
  • 1:59 | of feel a lot of times when people are
  • 2:01 | struggling with consistency of strike
  • 2:02 | and dissonance is if they are literally
  • 2:04 | doing this you are throwing the club at
  • 2:07 | the golf ball here just with your hands
  • 2:09 | and your arms
  • 2:11 | the best players they use their entire
  • 2:14 | right side are in my term Trail side if
  • 2:16 | you’re left-hander through the shot so
  • 2:18 | what I’m going to hear this if I was to
  • 2:20 | throw my hand at here I’ve got a certain
  • 2:22 | amount of power but watch what happens
  • 2:24 | when I do this notice where my elbow is
  • 2:28 | I’m not my elbows out here now it’s in
  • 2:30 | but Watch What Happens here watch my
  • 2:32 | right side
  • 2:33 | now I’m pushing my entire right side
  • 2:36 | through this has given me extra power
  • 2:40 | through the shot on control chisler
  • 2:41 | fantastic just as a great video so
  • 2:43 | imagine against the wall here and what
  • 2:45 | you’re going to do is you’re going to
  • 2:46 | feel what impact’s like so if I put a
  • 2:48 | club down with an iron we want to strike
  • 2:50 | the ball then the turf so the angle of
  • 2:53 | the shaft is slightly further forward
  • 2:54 | and notice here we’ve got an angle in
  • 2:57 | this kind of Trail wrist here my right
  • 2:59 | wrist and what I’m going to do is I’m
  • 3:01 | going to push look
  • 3:02 | this through and I’m continuing the
  • 3:06 | circle with what
  • 3:08 | not just my arm but my entire right side
  • 3:12 | look is turning through that shot this
  • 3:15 | is giving me stability and it’s giving
  • 3:17 | me power super super important so this
  • 3:20 | is what I do with my students first of
  • 3:22 | all is give you a sense of what you’re
  • 3:23 | supposed to do for impact start there
  • 3:25 | now you could if you wanted you could
  • 3:28 | actually just hit some shots from there
  • 3:29 | you could have take that motion there
  • 3:31 | and what I love my students to do at the
  • 3:33 | start is is to really push really feel
  • 3:36 | like this trail trail hand is pushing
  • 3:38 | almost down on the shaft here and it’s
  • 3:40 | getting ready to do what push through
  • 3:43 | impact
  • 3:44 | push shrimpat not flick through impact
  • 3:48 | so you start with that initially maybe
  • 3:49 | you just get hit a few shots kind of
  • 3:51 | feeling that motion before we start to
  • 3:54 | go into the second part of this process
  • 4:00 | so you’ll notice on that shot that my
  • 4:02 | back swing was pretty sure and it was a
  • 4:04 | much shorter swing which kind of builds
  • 4:05 | into how we develop this for you going
  • 4:08 | forward for your irons and your driver
  • 4:10 | now ask yourself this if I want my trail
  • 4:13 | side to feel like it’s rotating and
  • 4:15 | really feel like the power is coming
  • 4:17 | through here it’s not just kind of
  • 4:18 | wishy-washy and flicky what do you think
  • 4:21 | your right side here your Trail side has
  • 4:23 | to do in the backswing have a think
  • 4:26 | about it if I want to rotate it
  • 4:29 | powerfully through impact what does this
  • 4:30 | Trail side the entire Trailside need to
  • 4:32 | do
  • 4:33 | well it needs to what
  • 4:36 | it needs to rotate doesn’t it it needs
  • 4:38 | to move this Trail shoulder this Trail
  • 4:40 | hip needs to move back to help you
  • 4:43 | create this 45 degree circle but also
  • 4:46 | load the power so now look you can what
  • 4:49 | you can turn it straight back down on
  • 4:52 | that golf ball so this is super super
  • 4:54 | important is to imagine your Trailside
  • 4:56 | if you can feel this motion here this
  • 5:00 | rotation if you didn’t have any rotation
  • 5:01 | on the way back which I see with so many
  • 5:03 | people who slice they don’t have any
  • 5:05 | rotation they pick the club up and then
  • 5:06 | they have lots of this right side now
  • 5:08 | they come across the ball and slice it
  • 5:10 | and top it you name it but if you take
  • 5:12 | this Trail side rotate it back just
  • 5:14 | unlock it all here rotate it back on
  • 5:17 | this 45 degree to help you create 45
  • 5:18 | degree circle now you’re really ready to
  • 5:21 | go
  • 5:22 | but there’s one piece here which I’m
  • 5:24 | missing and this is as you’re doing this
  • 5:27 | what I would love for you to do is
  • 5:29 | remember this is a circle I want you to
  • 5:32 | imagine your Trail arm this works
  • 5:34 | amazingly for for Laura the other day
  • 5:36 | when my students so ultimately I want
  • 5:38 | you to imagine you’ve got this
  • 5:40 | um it’s just sitting there beautifully
  • 5:41 | right I want this Trail arm to remain
  • 5:44 | fairly straight not Rod straight but
  • 5:49 | fairly straight here why because most of
  • 5:52 | the time I’m seeing the golfers this has
  • 5:54 | been overly flexed here and now you’ve
  • 5:57 | ruined this entire circle now from here
  • 5:59 | you’ve got no way of hitting the golf
  • 6:00 | ball just imagine you’re keeping it out
  • 6:03 | here you’re going to create this
  • 6:04 | beautiful circle look the entire gold
  • 6:06 | thing is almost created look with the
  • 6:07 | trail arm going back
  • 6:09 | and going through that’s all I want you
  • 6:11 | to do so you’re unlocking this Trail
  • 6:13 | side but you’re also simultaneously
  • 6:15 | keeping this Trail arm here soft yes but
  • 6:19 | you’re going to feel like it’s fairly
  • 6:21 | straight and it means that the swing is
  • 6:22 | going to feel very very short and all
  • 6:24 | you’re doing now is rotating back to the
  • 6:25 | golf ball here and then look you just
  • 6:27 | keep pushing
  • 6:28 | that trail arm on the arc
  • 6:31 | through the impact area here so it keeps
  • 6:34 | it really really really simple okay
  • 6:36 | let’s start with that and we’ll go on to
  • 6:38 | drive and see what you do with the
  • 6:39 | driver so we get ourselves set we feel
  • 6:41 | the pressure here what we’re trying to
  • 6:43 | do through impact we might even rehearse
  • 6:45 | this pushing through on the arc and then
  • 6:48 | all I’m going to do here is again I’m
  • 6:49 | going to imagine almost like a I want to
  • 6:51 | imagine my club’s only going to go to
  • 6:53 | night my right arm’s only going to go up
  • 6:54 | to nine o’clock in reality I know it
  • 6:57 | will go a bit further it does with
  • 6:58 | everybody I know everyone has some Flex
  • 7:01 | even when they try this but because
  • 7:03 | they’re so much like this this is just a
  • 7:05 | wonderful feeling so no matter what it
  • 7:07 | feels like you’re probably going to feel
  • 7:08 | like it’s Rod straight but the reality
  • 7:09 | is it will always bend okay so just
  • 7:12 | picture that motion now right side
  • 7:15 | working back working back onto the golf
  • 7:17 | ball
  • 7:18 | and we’re going to create a very very
  • 7:20 | simple Circle
  • 7:24 | just like that that is absolutely ripped
  • 7:29 | okay so let’s now see how this works
  • 7:31 | with driver
  • 7:32 | so I said dinner that this works for
  • 7:34 | driver and you don’t have to change very
  • 7:36 | much and that is exactly it so with
  • 7:37 | driver the ball position is now much
  • 7:40 | much more forward so as opposed to
  • 7:41 | getting a complete down force on that
  • 7:43 | golf ball we’re now catching the ball a
  • 7:45 | little bit later but we’re still we
  • 7:47 | still want to have this entire Trail
  • 7:49 | side pushing look through that shot on
  • 7:52 | the at creating the other side of this
  • 7:54 | 45 degree circle it’s just that the ball
  • 7:57 | is a bit further forward and one thing I
  • 7:59 | didn’t add with the irons which I
  • 8:00 | certainly is really really important is
  • 8:02 | that when you are keeping this Trail arm
  • 8:06 | what feels like fairly straight so
  • 8:08 | you’re creating a beautiful Circle here
  • 8:10 | watch out for a really big mistake
  • 8:14 | um initially when I was giving Laura
  • 8:16 | this she was kind of keeping the right
  • 8:18 | arm almost look facing downwards where’s
  • 8:21 | my elbow here it’s almost outward so she
  • 8:23 | was kind of trying to do it like this
  • 8:24 | now the thing is is you’ve got to
  • 8:26 | imagine that this circle works on a 45
  • 8:28 | degree angle so as it does that what
  • 8:30 | does my trail side all do it’s rotating
  • 8:33 | where’s my elbow it starts here and it’s
  • 8:35 | still almost pointing look down towards
  • 8:37 | the ground why because it’s working on
  • 8:40 | this ah very very important okay so we
  • 8:43 | drive it imagine the same thing look at
  • 8:45 | this here I get myself set
  • 8:47 | I’m going to imagine this Trail side
  • 8:49 | here just pushing feeling that pressure
  • 8:51 | I want this type of strike and then from
  • 8:54 | here if I did a mini rehearsal I want to
  • 8:56 | imagine this right side pushing through
  • 8:59 | the shot I don’t want this I don’t want
  • 9:02 | the body I don’t be trying to do this
  • 9:03 | either I want the whole right side of my
  • 9:05 | body turning down through that shot okay
  • 9:07 | so let’s have a look at this in action
  • 9:09 | so we drive her imagine that Trails I’m
  • 9:12 | fading almost swinging to nine o’clock
  • 9:15 | here but I know it’s going to go further
  • 9:17 | feel like it’s pushing outwards there
  • 9:18 | and I’m going to create that Circle from
  • 9:20 | the right side here I’m going to turn
  • 9:21 | that right side and the club face
  • 9:23 | straight look down onto that golf ball
  • 9:27 | all right
  • 9:29 | absolute belter so this is what we’re
  • 9:32 | trying to do we’re trying to look after
  • 9:34 | fuel impact first stage number one feel
  • 9:36 | it feel the right side putting pressure
  • 9:38 | on that golf ball create the circle with
  • 9:42 | the trail arm here literally start to
  • 9:44 | create that Circle working around start
  • 9:47 | off feeling like it’s actually straight
  • 9:50 | yeah it’s working on a straight line
  • 9:53 | we’re not letting it Flex too much
  • 9:54 | everybody flexes it too much put
  • 9:56 | yourself on camera and my bed is that
  • 9:57 | you’re you’re pulling it behind here
  • 9:58 | you’re flexing too much here really keep
  • 10:01 | that width and
  • 10:02 | for me one of the things that the
  • 10:05 | feedback I got from my students was if
  • 10:07 | I’m here I really feel powerful I can
  • 10:09 | feel my my right lat inside here I can
  • 10:12 | feel my right leg wanting to push in
  • 10:13 | here well if you think about it I just
  • 10:15 | kind of want to get back there so if I
  • 10:17 | start to let this go all over the place
  • 10:19 | that’s hard but if I was to now keep
  • 10:21 | that and go
  • 10:22 | I’ve still got that powerful position
  • 10:25 | now when I all I’m going to do is I’m
  • 10:27 | going to keep that powerful and turn it
  • 10:28 | look down towards that golf ball but if
  • 10:31 | I let this start to drift and move
  • 10:33 | around that’s going to be super
  • 10:35 | difficult for you okay so I hope you
  • 10:37 | love this as much as my students do like
  • 10:39 | I say it works for your irons it works
  • 10:40 | your driver wash your fairwoods give it
  • 10:42 | a go out show it to somebody who you
  • 10:44 | think is going to need some help with
  • 10:45 | their distance and ball striking I know
  • 10:47 | it’ll super super help look if you wanna
  • 10:49 | see a wonderful drill that works
  • 10:52 | fantastically with this okay so you can
  • 10:54 | do this maybe on the practice ground
  • 10:55 | check this video out right here’s an
  • 10:57 | absolute belter and of course look if
  • 10:58 | you’re new to the channel press that
  • 11:00 | subscribe button and the Bell so you
  • 11:02 | don’t miss out on any future videos and
  • 11:03 | of course I’ve put a free practice plan
  • 11:05 | in the description box below so you
  • 11:07 | never have to remember her thing
  • 11:09 | until next week have a wonderful golfing
  • 11:11 | week

I think it's because people try hit the ball different with a driver and iron is why the clubs play different on different days. I hit down on both I know I hit down on both and I've became a 2 handicap doing so. Drive the ball on average 280. I'm not trying hit up on driver and hit down on irons. That with ball position and understanding d plane with the video you made on it has made a huge difference. Too many people play the ball with their feet they need to play ball position off the upper body the clavicle and sternum doesn't chance they're stationary. The feet tend to change unless you're a robot

Great video. These are the same feelings I found after working through your Pete Cowen videos. As a side note, pretty brave of you to be out in front and to the right on the driving range!

    Hi Danny,
I’ve followed you for a year or more now and you are, without a doubt one of the best. However, as a senior golfer (mid handicap), I would love you to run your recent lessons with your dad.
With slightly less rotational ability it’s not always easy. Your dad makes a great senior student for us more mature golfers to measure ourselves against.
    Cheers Danny.

There is no right arm in Golf. It’s back or front.

Thanks Danny. Question from me, I’m left hand dominant, play golf right handed. You focus on trail arm, any tips for the left arm to stop it dominating?

Great video! I have had some very good success with this. While I was practicing this I noticed that some of my shots were going to the left (right-handed). I had the thought – what would happen if I added some left-side pull to the right-side push? Aside from getting even more power/distance into the shots, this really straightened them out. What I also noticed is that if I favored the left side, the shot would fade. If I favored the right side – it would draw. Maybe your next video?

Since making your pete cowen move/lesson I have been hitting my irons on the heel. I feel the power and consistency but need help with heel strikes. What do you think I'm doing? Thanks. I can't wait till I have this. I'm almost there.

Absolutely brilliant. Precise and to the point and very easy to follow and practise. I watch each video a number of times and even carry the lesson plans to the range. Your passion for the game and to help other golfers at all levels is superb.Thanks.

Yo Danny! In this video you indicate that the right arm is "almost" straight on the backswing. When I try to do this…I do not get hardly any left wrist hinge. Is that what you want us to do, i.e., less left wrist hinge? Thanks. BigG
