ABOUT DANNY
———————–
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On YouTube and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

Video Transcript
- 0:00 | so just like you I need to improve the quality
of my contact with both my irons and my driver - 0:04 | I also naturally need to become more accurate
now a few months ago I sought out the world’s - 0:09 | number one golf coach my mentor Pete Cowen now in
that lesson which I actually shared on YouTube he - 0:15 | basically focused on my trail side how my right
side of my body needs to work effectively to - 0:20 | really simplify the golf swing and over the last
few months I’ve been working very very hard and - 0:24 | it has really improved the consistency my contact
and my Direction with every golf Club in the back - 0:30 | now in this golf lesson what I want to do is I
want to share with you this Genius move that’s - 0:34 | going to help you to improve your accuracy and
your contact now in the lesson that we did on - 0:39 | YouTube Some people didn’t quite understand it so
I’ve really simplified it for you in this lesson - 0:44 | now before I get into it though if you’re new to
the channel it’s your first golf videos of mine - 0:47 | please consider subscribing I release videos just
like this every single week to try and help you - 0:53 | improve your game plus you never have to remember
a thing I’ll always put a free practice guide in - 0:56 | the description box below so by the end of this
lesson what I want you to be able to do is whether - 1:01 | it’s your driver Fairway wood or irons I want you
to be able to deliver this club consistently the - 1:07 | same every single time great golfers are able to
do this they deliver the golf club not like this - 1:12 | one minute and then this from the next minute they
deliver it consistently every time this gives them - 1:17 | great ball striking it gives them the distance
and it obviously gives them the accuracy that’s - 1:20 | my hope for you in this lesson now the first
thing to recognise this the golf swing is just - 1:25 | a second and a half absolute maximum 1 second of
that basically takes place in the back swing you - 1:31 | only have half a second in the downswing so if you
think about it getting that back swing correct is - 1:38 | absolutely imperative we can in a sense get you
in a great position at the top it kind of sets - 1:42 | up the down swing if you get out of position
at the top and you’ve only got half a second - 1:46 | to kind of like compensate this is what leads
to inconsistencies Pete knows this so the very - 1:52 | first thing we’re going to work on is getting
you into a great place right now he would call - 1:58 | this I want you to load your back swing up now
take your setup position now I’m going to give - 2:03 | you the drill he gave me and I’m going to give you
something unbelievably simple so this is the Golf - 2:07 | drill he gave me the cack handed exercise put
your Trail hand on top bottom hand underneath - 2:11 | don’t join them and ultimately what I’m doing
here is this I’m making a swing where my hands - 2:17 | don’t really go too much past my ribcage here and
just making a swing here and when I do this this - 2:24 | feels what he would describe as tight it really
does why is tight a good thing so here I’ve loaded - 2:31 | my legs I’ve loaded my torso and I’ve loaded my
arms Everything feels Compact and tight tight is a - 2:38 | good thing tight because just like a spring if we
are turning the top part of that spring here okay - 2:46 | bottom Parts fairly stable but still move but top
part’s a bit tight when you then let go you get - 2:53 | the down swing for free so we need to get into
a slightly more compact tighter position at the - 2:58 | top so you get your back swing for free what I’m
seeing with too many golfers is is they’re wristy - 3:04 | here the arms are going here nothing everything’s
just a bit loose so the two golf drills you can - 3:09 | play around with there’s the one that I worked
on which is a simple cack handed exercise here - 3:14 | simple as that look how my trail elbow sits down
here absolutely perfect and potentially an even - 3:20 | simpler one that which have developed here is just
take your Trail hand put it forward it’s Palms - 3:25 | facing slightly down towards the golf ball almost
like you’re bouncing a ball and then I want you - 3:30 | to imagine this you’re going to turn a look behind
you and you’re going to imagine holding a waiters - 3:36 | tray like this notice how my body is winding up
and I’m holding the waiters tray my whole arm - 3:44 | look is first of all facing you but then continues
to go and it’s continuing to go this way and it’s - 3:50 | holding that waiters Tray now with my students
there’s a variety of flexibilities some people - 3:55 | will never get their palm to face the sky they
won’t have the flexibility that’s fine you might - 4:00 | have to kind of load your loading of the swing
or the loading of the spring might be just facing - 4:05 | away what I don’t want however is this the Palm
facing this way if you’ve done this this way what - 4:12 | you’re doing is you’re not loading you’ve lost the
spring now this is winding the spring here loaded - 4:18 | now I can work it on an arc for a lot of people
here is not winding it so start with that as goal - 4:24 | number one now here’s how I’d work on this for me
if I’m going to use the cack handed exercise what - 4:29 | I do is is I do a few little motions here now
sometimes even when people do this they try and - 4:34 | do this no it’s what I’m doing my trail arm is
pushing away the left arm is pulling back here - 4:40 | this is giving me the loaded kind of sensation now
I made the mistake in the early days of doing this - 4:46 | of almost been very static and trying too hard to
do this and it I basically overthought it I don’t - 4:54 | want to do the same I want you to keep momentum
with it so now I’ve got the idea of loading this - 4:59 | kind of my back swing I want to keep momentum so
I might start here a few times and then flow into - 5:05 | this loaded position here you could do this with
your right arm just imagine flowing hold the work - 5:11 | tray hold the work tray hold the work tray just
don’t get too static really add momentum to this - 5:18 | motion and the idea is just to see if you can load
that load that spring because when it’s loaded - 5:23 | you’ve now got a chance then same principle
again don’t overthink it get yourself set - 5:30 | work work on some motions now I’m going to
try and repeat that motion here feel it just - 5:33 | about here I’m going to do this is the cack handed
exercise feel the momentum load it unload it okay - 5:42 | and I start just doing that initially so here
small little swings load it and unload it and - 5:50 | I’m basically building up my back swing so what’s
that I’m hitting 7 iron here that’s just 157 yard - 5:56 | that’s about 25 yard shorter than I normally
would hit because I’m starting small I want - 6:01 | you to do the same so get that sensation do that
spend time that might be a practice in itself get - 6:07 | the sense of that loaded position then move on to
stage number two which is the downswing so you’ve - 6:13 | loaded your spring you’ve loaded that back swing
now what happens well you’ve done a big part of it - 6:19 | it’ll want to come down naturally but here’s what
I see with a lot of amors I want you to avoid this - 6:24 | okay a lot of amateur golfers when they’re coming
down they don’t realize I feel the same but impact - 6:30 | on the way down needs to happen on your Trail side
of your body the right side for me okay it happens - 6:37 | here without realizing that this is what’s tending
to happen with golfers they get here they’ve - 6:42 | loaded and then what they do is they just sling
their arms at it and impact then happens look in - 6:49 | front of our bodies too much this is when you get
those flicky horrible strikes now for me as even - 6:55 | as a professional golfer I got a little bit too
much in front as well but I draw my handle so I - 7:00 | managed to get strike but I’m still look too much
in front but I’d then flick it and I sometimes - 7:05 | would get some hooks impact happens look on the
trail side of the body here this is absolutely - 7:16 | crucial so if you want your body to naturally move
efficiently through impact and just understanding - 7:21 | that impact happens a bit exaggerated but here
is a great place to kind of visualize all right - 7:29 | so when you getting yourself set up in your golf
swing whether it’s cack-handed or this Trail hand - 7:33 | look at this I’m loading holding the weight tray
and then all I’m going to do is I’m going to move - 7:38 | that hand back towards the golf ball here but as
I’m doing that I’m going to imagine that hand look - 7:43 | staying on the trail side of my body and as a
by product my trail side turns through and here - 7:49 | I am what I’m not doing is doing this makes sense
yeah so swing it back move it onto the trail side - 7:58 | hey presto this is a really really simple way
for you to work on now when’re I doing the cack - 8:03 | handed exercise this is something I personally
did so what I did when I swung back here I was - 8:08 | very used to driving here and then flicking so
for me it was like how do I get that golf club - 8:14 | naturally back to the golf ball what I do is I
turn my trail side look into the golf ball here - 8:20 | now I’ve got a brilliant impact position where’s
impact on the trail side of my body here and I’ve - 8:25 | got complete control over this club so really
simple visual but a great way to then take what - 8:33 | we’ve just been doing which is loading that back
swing up and then thinking right and now to my - 8:38 | trail side I’m going to hit the ball with my trail
side to the side of me not out here or in here but - 8:48 | there nice and simple so as you’re doing this you
know one thing that’s really important I I love my - 9:03 | students love this visual of just hitting on the
trail on the trail side of the body the side of - 9:07 | the body as opposed to just hitting in front of it
really helps with the ball striking but remember - 9:12 | you must get loaded to do this if you haven’t
got loaded in the backswing if you’re up here - 9:17 | and then you try to hit on the you haven’t loaded
the back swing and you try to hit on the trail - 9:21 | side you’ll come straight over the top that’s not
what we want remember what gives you permission to - 9:26 | turn this Trail side back into the golf ball
is the fact that you’ve turned it and you’ve - 9:31 | loaded it on the way back so if you’ve loaded it
on the way back all you’re doing with this whole - 9:35 | Trail side of the body is simply just delivering
it look back into the golf ball here and that’s - 9:41 | going to give you that beautiful strike so load
it correctly another great visual is to see this - 9:48 | is what this is here for see the swing as if it’s
got Corners so you look at what we’ve just done - 9:54 | you’ve loaded the swing we’ve gone around here
almost on a bend on an ark okay now from here - 10:00 | most amateur golfers turn the corner too quick in
this swing here look I’m going back down where we - 10:06 | came from with my hands here’s the corner I’m
turning the corner now to go back to the golf - 10:12 | ball I’m now continuing to turn the corner with
my hands look releasing the club here someone - 10:18 | like myself I would be good at this bit but I
would dry I won’t turn any corner I drive this - 10:23 | way that would get me coming here I’d have to flip
with my hands most am to Golfers do the opposite - 10:29 | they don’t get very loaded here they go here and
then from here they turn the corner to come out - 10:34 | over the top get loaded in the back swing it make
it so much easier for you to turn that corner back - 10:39 | into the golf ball and return that club at the
same place time and time again so do me a favour - 10:47 | put the work in get loaded in the back swing
and start to work on turning that trail side - 10:51 | back into the golf ball so you hit it on this
this side of body not in front and you’re going - 10:56 | to start to improve the quality of strike with
every golf club in your bag if you happen not to - 11:01 | see that my lesson with Pete Cowen you can check
that out right here but if you enjoy the video - 11:06 | give it a thumbs up maybe share with one of your
friends and of course look if you’re new to the - 11:09 | channel press that subscribe button and the Bell
but until next week have a wonderful golfing week
Boom amazing stuff dude
Second comment. Thank you for these videos
Thanks Danny. I've learned more watching you than anyone else on youtube.
Great stuff as always Danny!
Dan the Man !
Playing in Dorset in 2 hours, I'm definitely going to try this on my warm up! ????
Great lesson Danny! I really struggle with the flick and hook and need to work on tightening up and turning that corner. I'll give the cack hand drill a go!
Wow. What a great tip with acting like you’re holding a servers tray
That’s why I look forward to Saturday morning videos. Another great instructional video with easy, common sense instruction that’s easy to understand. ????
Great recap, Danny. When I saw your video on this last time, I didn’t quite pay attention to clearing the trail side so well. Excellent presentation this time. ????
That was a blinding video Danny, easy to visualise on the course.
Graphics on this are a great help. We could see that the Pete Cowen input was pure golf wisdom but your teaching of it is getting through to us average golfers. Thanks as always Danny.
Will try looks great ????️
Simplified it again Danny ,another great video, cheers ????
I actually started this from your video with Pete and it helped my irons and driver so much! Again, a great lesson Danny!
Well done Danny hope you're well buddy ???? ????
Aid for picturing the finish, flexibility dependent, helps getting to side on impact and turning that second corner.
Put an alignment stick starting from the lead heel and extending out touching the trail toes – it sets a direction.
Finish the downswing with your back facing along the direction of the stick. If flexibility allows, keep the trail heel point fixed and slowly increase the angle towards 45, maybe even more ????
